GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Midland used an explosive start and steady offensive pressure to defeat Walters State 15-4 in game 12 of the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series.
Midland (53-11, 3-1 JUCO) wasted no time, scoring three runs in the first inning behind an RBI double from Bammer Maes and a two-run homer by Caleb Eagar. Walters State (53-13, 1-2 JUCO) answered immediately with a three-run blast from Drew Blalock to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning.
The Chaparrals regained control in the second, capitalizing on defensive miscues and wild pitches to score three more runs, then added insurance throughout the game. Midland plated runs in five different innings, highlighted by Eagar’s second home run of the day and a two-run shot from Cole Neatherlin in the eighth.
