GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Wabash Valley rallied from an early 4-2 deficit to defeat Midland 11-6 in game four of the Alpine Bank Junior College Baseball World Series.
Midland (50-11, 0-1 JUCO) struck first in the opening inning as Cole Neatherlin’s three-run homer put the visitors up, but Wabash Valley (44-20, 1-0 JUCO) answered with a steady offensive attack highlighted by a five-run fifth inning that turned the game.
Key performers:
- Wabash Valley: Brady Schallmoser delivered a two-run homer in the first, added multiple extra-base hits and a walk, finishing a pivotal role in the rally. Enrico Veach tripled and later hit a solo homer, and Leandro Hernandez had a two-run homer in the third and an RBI triple in the fifth. Drake DeFreitas and Konner Brown provided timely hits and runs during the big fifth.
- Midland: Cole Neatherlin’s first-inning three-run homer and later RBI single paced Midland’s offense. Caleb Eagar and Jorge Gil contributed with key hits and baserunning.
Wabash’s timely extra-base hits and depth in the middle innings provided the decisive margin in the victory.
