GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Blinn scored in every inning it needed, turning a 3-0 deficit into a rout to down Salt Lake 13-3 in game three of the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series.
Salt Lake (39-17, 0-1 JUCO) struck first when Lute Chavez launched a three-run homer in the top of the first, but Blinn (46-12, 1-0 JUCO) answered immediately with a four-run homer from Ryley Leininger and a solo shot by Jacob Bohacek to take a 5-3 lead.
Blinn added a three-run blast from Bohacek in the third and broke the game open in the fourth with a string of hits, walks, a balk and two passed balls that produced multiple unearned runs.
Key performers: Jacob Bohacek homered twice and finished with a pair of run-producing hits; Ryley Leininger’s first-inning, four-RBI homer was pivotal; Reece Lunsford delivered timely extra-base hits and drove in runs in the middle innings. For Salt Lake, Lute Chavez accounted for all three runs with his three-run shot, and Tyler West and AJ Thomas had multiple hits.
Blinn’s sustained offense and capitalizing on Salt Lake miscues proved decisive in the victory.
