05.27.2026

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - LSU Eunice erased an early deficit but could not recover from a nine-run fifth inning in a 15-6 loss to Blinn College in game 14 of the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series.

Blinn (47-13, 3-1 JUCO) jumped out to a 5-0 lead through two innings, capitalizing on timely hitting and LSU Eunice (47-13, 1-2 JUCO) defensive miscues. Drew Britton highlighted the early surge with a two-run triple in the second inning, while Benji Barrera and Ryley Leininger each drove in runs.

LSU Eunice responded with six unanswered runs between the third and fourth innings to take a 6-5 lead. Andrew Clapinski sparked the comeback with an RBI triple in the third, while Jordan Luna, Marshall Louque and Mason Bordelon all contributed run-scoring hits during the rally.

Blinn answered decisively in the bottom of the fifth, sending 14 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs on six hits. Ryley Leininger delivered a two-run single, Hunter Smolinski added a two-run single of his own, and Reece Lunsford drove in two more runs as Blinn reclaimed control.

Blinn added one final run in the sixth inning before the game ended early. Smolinski finished with four hits and multiple runs scored, while Britton and Leininger each drove in key runs in the victory.
