Indian Hills Upsets #1 Crowder

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – It was upset city in Game 2 of the Alpine Bank Junior College Baseball World Series as 10-seed Indian Hills (IA) upset 1-seed Crowder (MO) 10-3.
 
Indian Hills (44-14, 1-0 JUCO) wasted no time getting on the board, hanging five in the top of the first all with two outs.  With a runner on, Tucker Ebest hit a double to right field, scoring one.  Noel Perez followed with an RBI to right center scoring Ebest.  Later in the inning, Ricardo Van Grieken cleared the bases with a shot to right field.
 
The Warriors would added an additional run in the second off a single through the left side by Ebest.  Crowder (52-7, 0-1 JUCO) would get on the board in the bottom of the frame courtesy of a three-run home run by Jeffry Mercado.  It was 6-3 Warriors after two.
 
Indian Hills wouldn’t score again until the sixth and eighth innings.  Perez hit an RBI double  in the sixth scoring Ebest.  In the eighth, the Warriors added three off a single by Pier-Olivier Boucher, a Roughrider throwing error, and a SAC Bunt by Dave Jassen.  Crowder would get a single hit in the eighth and ninth but wouldn’t score.
 
Maddux Hoaglund picked up the win, striking out 7 in the win.  James Hicks pitched 7.0 innings and gets the loss for Crowder.
 
With the win, Indian Hills advances to play 4-Seed McLennan (TX) on May 31st at 7:30pm.  Crowder will play the 7-seed Florence-Darlington (SC) on May 30 at 2:00pm.
