LUBBOCK, Texas - Longtime Seminole State (Okla.) coach Lloyd Simmons will be inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in November.

Simmons, who won 1,804 games as the Trojans' head coach, spent from 1976-2001 at Seminole and returned from 2013-2016. After his first stint, he managed minor league baseball in the Kansas City Royals organization, first the Gulf Coast Royals in 2002, then the Arizona League club from 2003-2007. He resigned because of health issues, but returned to the field with the Trojans for four more seasons.

Simmons led Seminole State to 13 appearances at the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series, more than any other coach, finishing as the national runner-up four times. He was inducted into the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997.

Others entering the College Baseball Hall of Fame this year are former Florida State coach Mike Martin, who retired after last season, Cal State Fullerton's Mark Kotsay, Dave Chalk, a two-time All-American at Texas, Andre Dawson, who set several records at Florida A&M before his successful Major League Baseball career, former Southern Cal pitcher Wally Hood, former Ferum College pitcher Billy Wagner, who owns the Division III strikeout record, and Dennis Poppe, who oversaw the College World Series from 1987-2013 for the NCAA.

The National College Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies are part of the College Baseball Night of Champions celebration Nov. 1-2 in Baton Rouge, La.
