The defending champions are back in Grand Junction for the eighth time. The McLennan Highlanders (49-11-1) fell early in to the loser’s bracket of the Southwest tournament, falling to Midland (TX) 6-3. They fought all the way back, and held off Midland twice (13-12, 5-3), punching their ticket back to the Colorado western slope.
The Highlanders have nine batters hitting better than .300. Cole Fontenelle tops the category, hitting .384. He has 71 hits, 23 doubles, 15 home runs, and 63 RBI. Ty Johnson is the hits leader with 72. Johnson is hitting .430 with 51 RBI. Hunter Grimes has 14 home runs and 60 RBI while hitting at a .340 mark.
