Reivers riding 15-game winning streak

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A familiar name is back at the top of the NJCAA Division I baseball rankings this week.

Iowa Western Community College, which has rattled off 15 straight victories, received all eight first-place votes and 160 points to move up from No. 3 to No. 1.

The Reivers are 32-5, 15-0 in conference play, and are hitting .377 with 52 home runs.

Central Arizona, 37-9, remains at No. 2 in the rankings, with Johnson County Community College (Kan.) jumping four spots to No. 3 with a 33-7 record.

Last week's No. 1 team, Gaston College, dropped to fourth at 40-5, with Georgia Highlands College, 36-6, ranked fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 are Florence-Darlington Tech, Weatherford College, Crowder College, Tyler Junior College and Salt Lake City Community College.

Roughly one month remains until teams begin regional and district playoffs, with 10 district champions qualifying for the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series in Grand Junction.
