NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association Coaches Hall of Fame
Smith has been the head coach at Des Moines Area CC, Boone Campus, for the past 30 years with a record of 789-521. He won Regional and District Coach of the Year honors in 1982, Regional Coach of the Year in 1989, and inducted into the Iowa Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1996. Smith has had three players go into the Major Leagues, he is still actively coaching at DMACC.
