Riggle served as an assistant baseball coach, head baseball coach and athletic director in Springfield, Ill., in his 34 years at the school. A four-time Region 24 Coach of the Year, Riggle took the Loggers to four NJCAA national tournaments, five regional titles and finished his career with a 734-461 record.
He had a dozen players drafted into Major League Baseball, including Nick Maton,who reached the majors with Philadelphia in 2021. Riggle also coached 18 All-Americans, including Ryan Aper, the NJCAA Division II Player of the Year in 2013.
He was an assistant coach on four national tournament teams, including the championship clubs in 1994 and 2000, both of which were inducted into the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame. Lincoln Land selected Riggle for its Administrative Distinguished Service Award in 2016 and received the NJCAA Loyalty Award in 2024.
He retired as the Loggers athletic director in June 2024 but is still active in the NJCAA as the Region 24 Board of Regents representative and is the chair of the NJCAA Division II Baseball Committee.
