John "Tex" Tolman has been involved with two-year baseball since 1955 when his father, Jay Tolman, had the idea to create a national tournament in baseball and have it held in Grand Junction, CO. This led to the creation of the NJCAA Baseball World Series. Tolman attended NJCAA member Mesa Junior College and was able to compete in the NJCAA Baseball World Series in 1964. Since then, Tolman has been heavily involved with the tournament in Grand Junction, CO.
In May of 2008, the Mesa State College clubhouse was dedicated as the "Tex Tolman Clubhouse," in recognition of service to young men in baseball. Tolman has served in several capacities including head baseball coach, head football coach, assistant baseball coach, assistant wrestling coach, head hitting coach, and independent hitting instructor.
Throughout the years, Tolman has given his time to the NJCAA DI Baseball World Series and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Tex Tolman has continued the tradition and vision that his father Jay Tolman had when he proposed making Grand Junction the home of the NJCAA Baseball World Series.
