Rodney Bennett is currently in his 21st season as the head baseball coach at Frederick Community College. Bennett has accumulated an overall record of 719-286 and coached his 1000th game as head coach on May 5, 2022.
Bennett has coached 106 All-Region players, 75 All-Conference players, 34 All-Americans, five MLB draft picks, three MLB free agents, and one National Player of the Year. Bennett has led the Cougars to the Region XX Tournament 19 times, NJCAA Division II World Series five times, and nationally ranked for 20 straight seasons. Bennett led his 2011 team to earn a No. 1 national ranking for six consecutive weeks, becoming the first team in any sport at Fredrick to reach that milestone.
Bennett has been awarded many coaching accolades including, NJCAA Region 20 Coach of the Year four times, American Baseball Coaches Association/Diamond Sports NJCAA Regional Coach of the Year three times, 2021 ABCA/ATEC NJCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year, and 2022 MD JUCO Baseball Coaches Association Coach of the Year. He has also received the Maryland Association of Baseball Coaches Collegiate Coach of the Year in 2007, 2010, 2011, and 2022.
He also served as the Director of Athletics at Frederick Community College from 2014-2019.
