NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association Coaches Hall of Fame
Burleson won more than 1,000 games in his 36-year coaching career at Kansas City. When he retired, he ranked 13th all-time in victories in NJCAA, with a 1,102-672 record, a .614 winning percentage, averaging more than 30 wins per season.
His teams won seven Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference titles, including three straight from 1985-87. Some of his former players include major leaguers David Segui and Kevin Young.
Burleson was the vice president of the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association and chairman of the Coaches Association Hall of Fame. In 1991, he managed the NJCAA national team that placed fourth in the Tournament of Americas in Cuba. He also helped write the KJCCC constitution and in 2012 was inducted into the Kansas City, Kansas Sports Hall of Fame. He retired from coaching after the 2015 season.
